Reflexology during pregnancy

If you are past your first trimester and your pregnancy is not high risk, reflexology can help with many of the pregnancy niggles such as

  • Pelvic girdle pain
  • Symphis pubis disfunction (SPD)
  • Constipation
  • Sleeplessness
  • Anxiety
  • Back pain
  • Heartburn
  • Sinus issues
  • Headaches
  • Odema

Pregnancy is a progressive process and can be hard on your body. If you are currently experiencing discomfort it is unlikely to get better on it’s own until the pregnancy is complete. Book yourself a treatment now and start feeling better so you can enjoy rather than endure your special time.

Reflexology for birth preparation

Reflexology for birth preparation has been shown to reduce interventions such as induction, forceps and C section and to reduce labour time, typically to between 4 & 6 hours. (without reflexology the average labour length for first time mums is 16 hours) It is also a great way to help achieve a  VBAC (vaginal birth after C section) . It is recommended to start this course of reflexology at week 32 and continue weekly until baby arrives. This treatment is so effective, even the midwives in CUMH come for it. They have noticed the difference in my patients when they come in to deliver and choose to prepare themselves in this way.

Reflexology for fertility

If you are struggling to conceive, it is best to start with a fertility consultation for both partners. This will give you both a robust nutrition and lifestyle roadmap for optimizing your fertility health.  Reflexology for fertility is generally focused on the woman’s menstrual cycle, one treatment in the first half of the cycle, prior to ovulation and another in the second half, post ovulation. Don’t worry if your cycle isn’t regular, once you get started on the nutrition and lifestyle programme that will soon be rectified and we can schedule treatments as appropriate. The most important thing to do is get started! I am fully trained in both fertility and pregnancy reflexology so there is no issue with having a treatment before you discover you have succeeded to conceive – that happens a lot in my clinic!
